Receive up to $35K to buy a home in Florida with the Hometown Heroes Program

With the Hometown Heroes Program, eligible full-time Florida employees can get up to $35,000 in down payment assistance, making homeownership more affordable.*

What is the Hometown Heroes Program?

The Florida Hometown Heroes Housing Program makes homeownership affordable for eligible frontline community workers by providing down payment and closing cost assistance to income-qualified homebuyers so they can purchase a primary residence in the community where they work and serve.

Florida Housing estimates that the funding will only last up to 2-3 months after the program updates take effect on August 18, 2025. If you want to take advantage of this first-of-its-kind program, don’t wait – reserve your funds now!

How the Florida Hometown Heroes Program Works

It’s simple. Eligible homebuyers can receive down payment and closing cost assistance through a second mortgage that carries no interest and no monthly payments for the life of the loan. Repayment is only required when the home is sold, refinanced, fully paid off, or no longer used as the borrower's primary residence.

This program can be used with all standard loan types and property types across the entire State of Florida.
